I have always heard that lighting is of the utmost importance when it comes to art work. If that is the case, then Carne Griffiths is right on track. He is a mixed media artist from the United Kingdom. Working primarily with calligraphy ink, graphite and liquids, such as tea brandy, vodka and whisky he draws and then manipulates the drawn line.
After graduating from Maidstone college of art Carne served an apprenticeship and worked as a gold wire embroidery designer for 12 years, hence floral pattern, repetition and flow play a large part in his work.
I chose to show his lightbox designs over some of his other works because of the duality that they present. They offer a beautiful effect while only utilizing traditional art methods.
I also once created something using ink, vodka, and whisky… a night of regrets.
