It’s not often that I get a chance to look at street art in person. One of many downfalls that come from living in suburbia. Kids in my neighborhood get arrested if they color outside the lines. Thankfully Os Gemeos (The Brothers) twins Otávio and Gustavo Pandolfo are not from my neighborhood.
What started on the streets of Brazil has now landed on the walls of museums all over the world. With their exhibit showing this month in Los Angeles I wanted to give you a glimpse of the roots of these talented brothers…
Their dreamlike subjects range from family portraits to social and political commentary, often depicted in a distinctive bright yellow.
“When we dream, everything we dream has yellow tones’, Gustavo Pandolfo explains. ‘This is something of ours, myself and my brother. We use it in our painting. We can’t use another colour. We have to use yellow.”
