Bed of Marshmallows by Lauren Smith

Bed of Marshmallows by Lauren Smith

I use a wide range of mass-produced materials in my work to create a dueling dialogue between the natural and urban landscapes. In most cases there is an intentional reference to water and its destructive capabilities. However, the extreme calm and order seen in the works communicates a certain level of control over or complacency towards the threats of water. I am interested in placing the creator in comparison with the implied destroyer, be it a consumer as the destroyer or Mother Nature herself.
