The Imagination of Anton Semenov may be a dark place, but the way he is able to convey the pictures from his head into actual art is nothing short of beautiful. Each one of these pieces offers a glimpse into the dark corners of the artists mind. This is mixed media at its best. A perfect cross between traditional painting and digital manipulation.

Anton is 27 and was born in the city of Bratsk, Russia, where he currently resides. He states that there is no fantasy in his work because he draws all inspiration from the outside world. I think that his imagination may be twisting the interpretation of his outside world, but then again, I have never been to Russia.

It is a growing problem. Bookshelves, drawers, consoles, all filled with useless compact discs. They are cluttering our homes, our cars, and soon our landfills. Sean Avery found a solution to the damage caused by the Ipod. For the past few years he has been creating these beautiful mixed media sculptures using broken compact discs, circuit boards, and other useless technologies from the 2000′s. I once used an Arcade Fire album as a frisbee. Is that doing my part?

Sean lives in Australia and is also a writer and illustrator of children’s books.

“The nature of my sculpture practice ensures that each piece will be completely unique. I blend many different man made materials together to make them appear strangely organic, with a distinct sense of movement. I only use recycled materials to create my sculptures, which classifies my work as “sustainable art”.”

Sean is available for commission and for around $500 you can have one of these small animals in your own home.

As you may know, I am a sucker for illusion. One of the all time greats of sidewalk art and pavement illusion is Kurt Wenner. It is amazing the depth he can create using chalk on asphalt.

In an attempt to replicate his art I dug an actual pit in a whole foods parking lot. I then filled it with lava and hired various gargoyles to hang from the edges. It cost me a pretty penny, but it was worth it. Next time I will just stick with chalk.

Kurt Wenner attended Rhode Island School of Design and Art CenterCollege of Design before working for NASA as an advanced scientific space illustrator. In 1982, Wenner left NASA for Italy to pursue his love of classical art.

“The goal of my work has always been to alter and manipulate the environment. I strive to have my work encompass the viewer and therefore enjoy creating spaces where people can live within a work of art. Whether simple and devout, natural and rustic, or audaciously sumptuous, I’m always challenge by bringing large spaces to a human scale.”
